Synopsis
1941. The world is radically different from the one described by conventional history. Napoleon V rules France, where, as everywhere else on the globe, scientists have been mysteriously disappearing for 70 years, depriving humanity of crucial inventions. With no knowledge of radio, television, electricity, aviation or the internal combustion engine, this world is stuck in outdated technology, as if asleep in 19th-century knowledge, governed by coal and steam. It is in this strange world that a young girl, Avril, sets out in search of her parents, missing scientists, accompanied by Darwin, her talking cat, and Julius, a young street urchin. This trio will have to face the dangers and mysteries of this Fake World. Who has been kidnapping scientists for decades? For what sinister purpose?
