Synopsis

In the summer of 2021, the Taliban regained power in Afghanistan, and the lives of two young women, Raha and Marwa, were turned upside down. Inside Kabul is based on the voice messages they exchanged with journalist Caroline Gillet in the months that followed. Raha chose to stay in Kabul. She faces the regime’s violence and the crisis gripping her country. Marwa left and is now confined to a refugee camp in Abu Dhabi. She waits to be taken in somewhere in Europe or the United States. Like many young women, they face essential questions: how can you grow and envision your future when you’re twenty and the world you knew is falling apart?
